The Apache trout is truly a native fish comeback story for Arizona and for the nation as well. The Apache trout, which is Arizona’s state fish, could become the first native fish in the United States to come off the endangered species list.

A hundred years ago or so, Apache trout could be found in approximately 600 miles of streams in the White Mountains of Arizona. By the late 1960s, these native trout were reduced to about 30 miles of stream. Now they are on the brink of recovery and have re-established natural reproduction in their home waters, and are thriving in various streams and lakes in the White Mountains on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest and the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. Arizona is the only place in the world where Apache trout are found. Fly fishing for Apache’s is one of Arizona’s premier fishing adventures!

The White Mountains are home to the most pristine forests in the state, and provide the ultimate setting. Lakes and streams in this region are located in some of the most beautiful areas in Arizona. The trout are typically aggressive eaters, and respond well to a large assortment of dries as well as nymphs. Apache’s typically share residence with brown trout and rainbow trout, so a high country grand slam is always a possibility as well.

This all-inclusive adventure will be outfitted with a full line of Orvis rods and reels, waders, boots, float tubes (if necessary), beverages, lunches, line, leaders, tippet, and flies.

The Hook Up only uses the finest equipment. Our light tackle and bass fishing trips are outfitted with G.Loomis rods, Shimano reels, and the latest tackle and gear fresh off the tournament trail. Our fly fishing trips are outfitted with top of the line Orvis gear, including rods, reels, line, leaders, waders, boots, and flies. We offer the finest fleet of boats in Arizona, including 20 and 21 foot tournament rigged bass boats and 24 foot tournament rigged bay boats. All of our adventures include use of our gear and equipment.

The Hook Up is a fully insured and permitted guide service, carrying special use permits from the Tonto, Apache/Sitgreaves, Coconino, Coronado, Kaibab, and Prescott National Forests and the Maricopa County Park and Recreation Department. With permitted access to more water than any other outfitter in the state, the only problem that might arise is deciding on a fishing location to start your adventure. All of our guides are licensed through the Arizona Game and Fish Department, and are fully certified in first aid and CPR.

The Hook Up takes you to Arizona’s most spectacular places. Our tournament proven guides are not only expert fishermen, but are also experts on the flora and fauna of the desert, as well as on the native history of Arizona, and are excited to share their knowledge with you.

*Trophy fish are a valuable resource that needs all of our help to survive. The Hook Up requires 100% catch and release of all sport fish species. Our guides are equipped with scales and measuring tapes to certify your catch, and we would be glad to help you arrange a replica mount of any fish. We do allow you to keep any non-sport species, up to the legal limit, at your guides discretion.

This tour must be booked at least 24 hours in advance of your travel date. Your confirmation for this product will be received within 12- 24 hours subject to availability.

Cancellation and No Show Policy

Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour are charged in full. Cancellations prior to 24 hours are charged a minimum $10.00 per person administration fee. We charge for NO SHOWS. No Shows on tour dates are charged 100%. Some specific tours and activities have a higher cancellation fee due to the limited space available.

Recommended for all tours in Phoenix: Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, hats, visors and sunglasses.

Weather: Tour route or activity may be changed depending on local weather conditions.

Meals, Gratuities and Souvenirs are NOT included.
