Imagine traveling the same route as the wagon trains in the days of the old west. Winding their way along this rugged, historic stage coach trail through the Superstition Mountains. It is said to be one of the most scenic drive in the Phoenix area.

The Apache Trail, following ancient Salado foot paths, was carved through awe inspiring canyons and rock to provide access for the construction of Roosevelt Dam at the turn of the century. Teddy Roosevelt called this canyon "One of the most Spectacular and best-worth-seeing sights of the world".

The stunning scenery on the Apache Trail will serve as the backdrop to an informative Sonoran Desert Walk.

Our journey continues as we board the double-decks of Dolly’s Steamboat for a 90 minute narrated tour of Canyon Lake, one of the Trail’s most scenic spots. Cayon Lake is one of the four man made lakes on the Salt River and no, it is not salty.

 

Most people don't think of lakes when they think of Arizona, but we have over 260 bodies of water in the state -  it's just that the water is very dry. Cruising under the 80-90 ft. cliffs of Canyon Lake, you're apt to see a verity of wildlife, including Bighorn sheep, deer, nesting eagles and a variety of aquatic foul. Once in a while, you may even see a black bear or mountain lion. Don't worry they can't swim very fast and rarely catch the boat.

Returning to the marina for lunch at the Lakeside Eatery, you'll enjoy a view of the lake and the company of your guide and fellow travelers. Lunch not included in price.   

We’ll continue to capture the feeling of the Old West with visits to historic Tortilla Flat. Originally a stage stop in 1904, now it is a remnant of an old west town and home to 6 people. It is hard to keep up with the ever changing population of the old stage stop. While there, notice the unique wallpaper in every building - both of them.   

Then to the valleys only authentic ghost town... Goldfield Ghost Town. We are sure you will remember this Apache Trail Adventure for years to come.

Hotel Pick Up:

• Pick up time is generally between 8:00am - 9:00am. You will be contact by a the Phoenix Tour Office the evening prior to your tour. If you are not in, a message will be left on voicemail or at the front desk for you to call us. If the confirmation message is not received or is unclear, please contact our office. If for some reason you have not received your pickup time, please call us. All necessary telephone numbers will be provided upon confirmation. Pick up is not provided from Private Residences.

What to Bring:

• Be sure to take a warm jacket along from November through March. A light one will be needed September, October, April and May.

About The Vehicle:

• New Model, deluxe stretch 15 passenger vans are used. Maximum guests on any tour will be 12 guests. All vans have comfortable seating, large windows and a speaker system so guests can better hear the tour guide. Van are air-conditioned and heated for colder months.

Your credit card will be charged the total amount of products and services selected at the time of booking. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover Cards.

Confirmation & Travel Voucher:

This tour must be booked at least 24hrs in advance of your travel date. Your confirmation for this product will be received within 12-24 hours subject to availability. You will receive a confirmation email with a link to your E-Ticket Voucher. Print this voucher on and present SIGNED voucher at departure location. Only one voucher will be created per tour or activity for all travelers.

Cancellation and No Show Policy:

All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges. No Shows are charged 100% In the event the tour is cancelled by the tour operator, the full ticket price will be refunded.

Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour are charged in full. Cancellations prior to 24 hours are charged a minimum $10.00 per person administration fee. We charge 100% for No Shows. If the tour is cancelled by the tour operator, the full ticket price will be refunded.

Supplier and Tourcorp assume no responsibility for delays caused by accidents, breakdown, weather, conditions of trails, roads, bays, oceans, rivers, airspace and any other conditions beyond control of Supplier, in addition to insufficient numbers of passengers.
